Sloshed?
Posted: October 21st, 2004 | Author: amake | Filed under: Japan | No Comments »Thanks in large part to McGloin, I’m taking regular classes with Japanese students here at Keio. That means ridiculous shit like Psychoanalysis, “Colors,” and Social System Celery. That’s right, I’m taking a class about colors.
The result of all this is that my schedule is completely different from the vast majority of the other exchange students. The few lucky ones that are also taking regular classes aren’t taking the same ones as I am, so that doesn’t help either. My point is that all the other exchange students know each other and socialize together, but I’m stuck being the only foreigner with a weird schedule.
Having taken such a staunch anti-angst stand in the past, why am I writing about this now, you might ask. The answer is that I’m pretty sloshed at this point, but all of the other people in my dorm have gone to bed because they have class tomorrow. Tomorrow is one of my days off. That’s a big disconnect right there.
So here I am, right sloshed (does anyone even use that word anymore?) with no one to talk to except for people I haven’t actually seen in years who live several prefectures away. And they’ve already gone to bed, since they’re normal people who lead normal lives. So now I’ve got no one to talk to except the internet. Hello.
Anyway, that’s an “in-a-nutshell” description of my live since I came to Japan. Fun, eh?
