I hate Keio more than ever

- Student, fearing the worst, makes sure to ask
- Student
- Can I take this class?
- Secretary
- Yes.
- Voice mail received the next day
- Secretary
- You can’t take that class.
- The day after that
- Student
- Why can’t I take this class?
- Secretary
- It’s against the rules.
- Student
- What rules? You said the other day I could take it.
- Secretary
- Maybe you can. I’ll tell you tomorrow.
I want to kill these people. It is the most disorganized, unnecessarily complicated, seizure-inducing system I’ve ever encountered. And this is the best Japan has to offer.
I have studied at 4 different world-renown universities, including Toronto University and Soul National University; Keio is by far the worst school. Extremely unhelpful, so disorganized, nobody ever knows what the heck is going on (students and staff).
After studying there for the Japanese language program (JLP) for an academic year, and having received 5 As, 9 Bs and 1 D for my final yearly grades, I am told I have not successfully completed the program, because I was supposed to receive MORE than a C in all courses to get a Certificate of Completion. I have received NO certificate of completion despite having taken all those courses.
1 D, which was not even a class pertaining to the core courses, deprived me of a certificate of completion.
Their answer?
“It’s clearly stated on the program handbook”
Uhmm….apparently it’s not very clear to anyone, since neither I nor any of my friends had ever heard about this.
If anyone is reading this message, spare yourself a lot of pain and go someplace else. Keio is not a deserving institution.
